The 2nd chapter of James is so damning of the “faith only salvation” doctrine that Martin Luther said the book of James should not be in the Bible at all.
“Therefore St James’ epistle is really an epistle of straw, compared to these others, for it has nothing of the nature of the Gospel about it.”—Martin Luther
Sadly, many of those born of Luther’s Protestant Denominationalism have the same attitude toward James. They might not explicitly state it the way Luther did but they essentially try to explain away what James said to protect their “faith only salvation” doctrine. It is so tragically sad that people will defend their pet unscriptural doctrines to the point of discounting clear Scripture.
Gwendolyn Thomas says
It’s unbelievable that people can read a clear text and because of their preconceived false beliefs will refuse to take the Bible for what it really teaches. That’s why false doctrine is so very dangerous ??!!
